ravenna_c_tan @ 12:48pm: Okay, after much teasing people in IM and such, for anyone who wants to connect the dots on my hp_summersmut story HALFWAY (Snarry, NC-17), I've written up the clues, and at the end I put my interpretation(s).

The whole point of a non-magical Snarry for me is about being able to explore that Snape/Harry dynamic but without the burden of their past history. Hopefully I met that goal, and made for some very hot sparks to fly between two representations of the characters that feel real and "in character" regardless of what explanation one puts on it. I needed to have a canon connection and a canon explanation to keep the story working for me, but you, the reader, needn't accept the one I used as my premise! I rather like some of the ones people have come up with themselves! But here's what I was thinking when I wrote it.

What's interesting is that I thought I was being way too obvious about what is going on in the story. But none of the commenters seem to have quite got it.

Or perhaps it's that merely thinking of it as an AU leads to a happier ending/interpretation? I'm fine with that. Once stories go out into the world, as far as I'm concerned, they need to stand alone – and authorial intent can be interesting and a nice addition to one's understanding of the story, but it does not replace any reader's personal experience (nor any scholar or critic's interpretation of the work). The author gets to say what they want in the story itself... the interpretations are not in the author's control. (A lesson J. K. Rowling may not have yet learned...)

So please enjoy the story however you like. But if you are curious about what I intended... the most obvious clue I can point you at is that it's not *really* an AU. There is a canon interpretation of what is going on.

swtalmnd @ 1:04am: Needz Moar Brainz
After all my good diligence in July, August has totally skipped the rails -- vacation, work deadlines, procrastinating clients, broken laptop, social obligations, more work and more vacation -- and my good habits have mostly gone out the window. I've been too tired and too full of excuses when evening comes to get into the writing, and that sucks.

So, in September I will be bringing back the diligence! Just in time for October to throw it out the window with the last trip of the year, and thank god, 'cos I'm tired of travel, man.

In July and early August I did drabbles to help keep me motivated, plus my little "update" posts to go with them. I'm not sure if i want to write another 30 drabbles (I love doing them, but once they're done, what do you do with them?), so, I'd like to ask you all: what should I do in September to keep me on the writing track?

I have a lot of things I want to finish this fall, original and fannish both, and I need your help to motivate me to get it all done! Feel free to chime in about what else you'd like to see me post, or not -- I know emiime is going to be sad at my Snape-filled schedule, heh, but I'm not sure if y'all even care about hearing the writing progress or what got done in my day or whatever. Or if you really just want lolcats. Well, lolbelladonnas (not to be confused with lolbellas, as my cat has better taste than to let sparkly vampires anywhere near her).

Brainz, wot? Mine are gone. Lend me yours?

In the Visible Infinity RPG, great tragedy has struck, and Lucius Malfoy has killed The Boy Who Lived. The Wizarding Wireless Network mentioned during the Minister's address that there was a debate going on about where he should be laid to rest. The Daily Prophet is running a poll, therefore, to see what the public thinks!
